Volunteering

Have you ever considered doing voluntary work? How do you feel about helping people in need? What sort of work can teens do as volunteers? Do you know any voluntary organizations? Write a text about it.

I have done voluntary work. Me and my catolic group were at the Day Center, here in Alenquer, and it was really fun. It is very nice to help people in need. We spend I whole day there and we done all stort of things: sing, dance, make all sort of crafts... And those elderly were very happy to have us there too; it was a very nice experience.

Teens can do a lot of things like to voluntary work at this Day Center, in the nursing home in Alenquer too, hospitals (I'm sure they wouldn't deny help unless they were too busy to talk :P). I don't know... If you don't have any much time you do voluntary work divided in what we call «good actions». You can help someone who's carrying to many bags, go and talk to someone who's sad... There are so many things to be done that beeing still is just not an option; at least for me.

I did some volunteer work too.
It was this Summer. I joined ALAMBI (Associação para o Estudo e Defesa do Ambiente do Concelho de Alenquer). It was a quite good experience: I made a Presentation on rubbish found through the roads of Alenquer, I helped in the organization of ALAMBI's 10th anniversary and I re-designed their site.
It is something I will never forget. Only through this experience I realized how fragile the world is, and how much we have disturbed its balance.
